Central Region Police say that they have intensified patrols as one way of upholding its commitment to reducing crime during Christmas festivities.

Spokesperson for Central Region Police superintendant John Namalenga said in an interview on Wednesday that crime rates are relatively high during Christmas season, hence the need to intensify police presence.

“The patrol teams being deployed are working day and night,” said Namalenga.

He added that police have also intensified road checks aimed at impounding vehicles that are not roadworthy.

Namalenga urged the public to lock their doors at night, avoid using shortcuts and to report cases police as soon as they happen.
